Meet Watch, Facebook's new home for original video content

Scam artists and others use a method called cloaking to make their links on Facebook look more innocuous than the content they serve. They even show Facebook reviewers fake versions of their sites

"Now video is going to be Facebook's main event; its episodic shows will even include scripted programs and reality content". It does not want it to be a part of the video feed that is made up of videos that are shared by users' friends and related content that comes with it. Watch will not be in the videos tab that was added previous year to Facebook.

"We'll be introducing Watch to a limited group of people in the USA and plan to bring the experience to more people soon", Facebook said.

"We've been testing Ad Breaks over the past few months, and we will be slowly opening up availability to more creators to ensure we're providing a good experience for the community", added Nick Grudin, Facebook's VP of media partnerships. It is now in direct competition with famous video-offering apps like YouTube and Netflix.

This is also part of the social media giant's push towards original video content as evidenced by the features that they've been bringing to the main app.

With almost 2 billion users, Facebook could further disrupt an online video space that's seeing media companies such as HBO offer their content directly to viewers. The company said it was rolling out Watch to a limited group of users in the United States before a wider release in the future. As far as new shows go, Facebook shared a list of upcoming programming - life coach Gabby Bernstein for instance will be sharing both live and recorded episodes.

All you will have to do is click a "Watch" tab on Facebook to gain access from your social media feed.

Consequently, its chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has used his own Facebook page to unveil "Watch". "You'll be able to chat and connect with people during an episode, and join groups with people who like the same shows afterward to build community". This disparity exists within most data-based advertising companies, because the U.S.ad market is so much more lucrative and because access to cheap data in the USA fosters higher user loyalty. Watch will have three sections: Most Talked About, What's Making People Laugh and What Friends Are Watching.

Facebook is already broadcasting some Major League Baseball games and that would continue, the company said.

The video tab has been available on Facebook for quite a time, but it displayed clips by amateurs or short videos by news agencies.

Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs" fame will host a show that highlights "people doing something extraordinary for their communities".
