Insurance firm: 2 employees hurt in Swiss attack

Swiss forensic officers investigate at a crime site in Schaffhausen Switzerland

Swiss police have issued an worldwide arrest warrant for the 51-year-old man suspected of going on a chainsaw rampage Monday in the town of Schaffhausen.

Hours later, authorities identified Franz Wrousis, a 51-year-old with previous convictions for weapons offences, as the prime suspect.

The Schaffhausen police department announced the arrest on its website Tuesday night.

Police said the attack was "not an act of terror".

The attacker wounded two insurance agency employees in their ground-floor office in the old town of Schaffhausen on Monday morning, said Christina Wettstein, a spokeswoman for insurer CSS.

The company doesn't know yet whether the other three wounded people were customers or passers-by, she added. They have undergone surgery, she said, and their lives are no longer at risk.

Sticher described him as a 190 centimeter-tall (6 feet 2 inches tall) bald white man, while police described him as a man of "untidy appearance".

Wrousis' vehicle was found on Monday but the manhunt continues, Schaffhausen Police said in a statement.

They later released another photo of Wrousis, which they said was taken immediately before the attack.

The suspect's vehicle, a white Volkswagen, has been found but he remains on the run and is presumed unsafe, although not necessarily armed, ATS said, quoting police.

Police had described Wrousis as potentially risky and warned he might be armed.

They did not say what was inside the van, which had registration plates from Graubuenden, or elaborate on its condition. The image shows him walking along a street in a green jacket carrying a large black bag, which they said may have contained the chainsaw.

Schaffhausen is a city of about 36,000 north of Zurich, near the border with Germany. In recent weeks he was seen a lot in forests near Schaffhausen.

A auto belonging to Wrousis was found by police.

He had been acting bizarrely and "told my dog he had a great haircut", said Karrer. "I never felt threatened".
