Trump Acknowledges Russian Election 'Meddling' in Tweet Criticizing Obama

Former President Barack Obama

While Trump questioned Obama's response on Saturday, his own administration is not expected to take any action against the Russians despite intelligence reports indicating Russia will try to meddle again in the USA mid-term elections 2018, according to NBC News.

A Washington Post report revealed Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin himself ordered Russian operatives to interfere in the US presidential election between then-candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. "WHY?" wrote Trump in the tweet.

Trump has long disputed that the Russians interfered with the election, calling it "all a big Dem HOAX" just this week.

Allegations of collusion between the Trump team and Russian officials during the election have dogged the president's first five months in office.

Trump claimed Obama had known about the accusations well before the November 8 polls and had done nothing. "Did nothing about it. WHY?"

Obama's spokesman declined to comment on the tweets.

Those reasons included partisan squabbling among members of Congress, initial skepticism by other intelligence agencies about the CIA's findings and an assumption that Clinton would win the election and follow up.

While the Trump administration had been mulling returning the compounds to the Russians, who had purchased them decades ago as resorts for Russians living in the US. 'They didn't want to hurt Hillary?'

He provided no explanation or evidence for why this would have helped Clinton. It also acknowledged specific instructions Russian forces were given to undermine Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Complacency may have also undercut the administration's efforts to punish Russian Federation.

One said "it's the hardest thing about my entire time in government to defend".

And that President Barack Obama approved planting cyber weapons inside critical Russian systems ready to activate if Putin didn't "cut it out".

"Focus on them, not T!" he tweeted Saturday afternoon. By admitting that the Russians did in fact hack our democracy, he in essence is admitting to aiding and abetting them. Jeff Merkley told CNN.

At least four direct warnings - Obama to Putin, spy chief to spy chief, and via top diplomatic channels - appeared to have an impact, officials told the Post.

To collude is to "come to a secret understanding for a harmful objective; conspire", which is not what Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party did in the primary. He even went as far as to attack Democrats such as Senators Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi because they had been photographed in the past with Putin and/or his associates. Finally, Obama's Department of Homeland Security did not designate state election systems as "critical infrastructure", entitling states to seek federal help with cybersecurity, until early January of this year as well. And to treat Putin as an ally and a friend is wrong.
