'Very Cruel': Woman Assaulted, Thrown in Pool Speaks Out

Woman thrown into pool while trying to break up party

Shocking video emerged over the weekend in which the 16-year-old was seen on video lifting Nancy James, 68, and then falling hard on the ground as he slipped on the wet surface of the pool area.

NBC reported seeing Mr. Balfour in handcuffs being escorted into the Broward Regional Juvenile Facility on Monday. As James asks the teens to quiet down, one partygoer appears to pick her up before the two tumble to the ground.

"She's an elder, you need to show respect for your elders that's insane, that's a frightful, disgusting thing that happened to her", said Simmonds.

One of James' dogs appeared to go into the pool with her.

But instead of turning the volume down, or even just fobbing the woman off, the teens began taunting her and filming in her face.

"For you to drop her and put her in the pool with her dogs, like she loves those dogs like those are her kids", another resident said. "You know, a few kids got insane a little bit", Mompoint said. "I didn't care what they were doing". An estimated 200 people were attending the party, a lot of them kids. "It's not my job to police the place".

James was on the neighborhood association and went down to request the partygoers turn down the music. "The kid has not evolved yet into what you're supposed to be as a human being".

James declined to be taken to the hospital at the scene, neighbors told WPLG that she did end up going to the emergency room later.

"It was a very cruel thing what that kid did", she said.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident and wants to speak with witnesses. By the time they arrived, most of the young people who were there when the incident took place had left the pool party.

"James was very frightened and upset", according to a report filed by a deputy who arrived after numerous party guests had fled.
