Trump's personal attorney now included in congressional Russian Federation probes

Cohen confirmed to the news station that he has been asked to give testimony to House and Senate investigators delving into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russian Federation in order to win last year's presidential election.

"I declined the invitation to participat".

Attorney General Jeff Sessions in early March recused himself from the Justice Department's Trump-Russia probe following The Washington Post reporting that he had twice met with Kislyak while a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Cohen became Trump's personal lawyer after the president assumed office.

Mr Cohen said he turned down the request because it was "overly broad" and "not capable of being answered".

Cohen joins the list of former and current Trump associates identified in the investigation, including Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former foreign policy adviser Carter Page, informal adviser Roger Stone and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner.

Cohen has served as legal counsel for Trump, as executive vice president of the Trump Organization and as special counsel to Trump.

Flynn also originally refused to respond to a Senate subpoena, then signaled Tuesday that he would comply with two subpoenas sent to his businesses and would also provide personal documents sought via a separate subpoena, according to a person close to him.

On May 25, the Senate committee unanimously voted to give chairman Republican Sen.

The number of Trump associates under scrutiny by the F.B.I. continues to grow as the investigations into the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation expand.

In January, an unverified dossier compiled by a retired British intelligence agent alleged that Cohen had colluded with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign.

Cohen said he has received a letter requesting he list his Russian Federation contacts and supply email and other communications but no subpoena. "And last August I was not in Prague".
