Of the total arrests, 13 were members of Detroit-based gangs, including the Latin Count, 18th Street, Cheddda Avenue and Surenos.

Twenty-one of the 1,378 people arrested were taken into custody on murder related charges, seven were arrested on rape or sexual assault charges, and 280 were arrested on immigration violations, ICE said.

In the course of about six weeks, Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended almost 1,400 people who allegedly fit at least one of the president's descriptions, the agency announced Thursday.

Of the 1,368 arrested, 445 were foreign nationals.

In Detroit, there has been an ongoing effort by law enforcement to crack down on gang violence, with local, state and federal law enforcement groups teaming up to dismantle what they consider the most violent gangs in the crime-plagued city.

There were also 1,095 confirmed as gang members and affiliates, including 137 affiliated with the Bloods, 118 with the Sureños, 104 with MS-13 and 104 with the Crips. Of the arrests, 933 were United States citizens and 445 were foreign nationals, though ICE could not provide how many were in the U.S. lillegally.

Authorities determined gang affiliation based on whether an individual was "convicted of violating Title 18 USC 521 or any other federal or state law criminalizing or imposing civil consequences for gang-related activity".

All members of gangs that Homan calls the biggest threat to America's communities. Sixty-twohad no gang ties, officials said. One was arrested on a criminal charge.

Three of the people in custody previously had Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals protection, officials said.

Ten of those arrested nationwide crossed the U.S. -Mexico border as unaccompanied minors.

HSI and partner agencies seized 238 firearms, various drugs and $491,763 in cash.
