Huge mysterious sea creature washes up on beach in Indonesia

A local found this giant sea creature washed ashore on Indonesia's Serum Island on Tuesday night

Locals in Indonesia were baffled by the sudden appearance of a very big sea creature that has washed up on a beach.

Asrul Tuanakota discovered the 15 metre-long body on Hulung Beach on Seram Island, and initially believed it to be a washed-up boat or shipping container.

The monster has started to decay prompting residents to urge the government to have its remains quickly removed.

The creature appeared just off Indonesia's Maluku province - some fishermen were convinced it was the remains of a giant squid.

Residents have flocked to see the giant creature, which died about three days ago.

A huge, dead creature has washed up on a beach in Indonesia - and so far, no one knows what it is.

While social media thinks it's a giant squid or a humpback whale, it is unclear as to what kind of animal it may be.

A group of marine scientists were reportedly scheduled to take samples of the creature on Thursday, according to Detik. Locals guessed that the creature, which was covered with hair, was an undiscovered species of dugong.
